Aldo Rossi

Aldo Rossi was born on May 3, 1931 in Turin, Italy and died on September 4, 1997 in Milan. Rossi was an Italian architect, designer and writer, known for his work on architectural theory and urban planning. Among his most important works are Teatro del Mondo (1979) and San Cataldo Cemetery (1971). Rossi adopted an approach to architecture that emphasized historical context and local identity, and was one of the pioneers of the Postmodern architectural movement. He won the Pritzker Architecture Prize in 1990 and was recognized internationally.
